The Derwent Valley

Today Kim and I had a relaxing day out of the office exploring the Derwent Valley area.

We saw a number of properties that we sell at TasVacations including the 5 star luxury pavilions at MONA (located in Berriedale), Hamlet Downs Country Accommodation, Curringa Farm, and Ratho Farm. Each property was very accommodating and we appreciate the time and effort they all took to welcome us and show us their accommodation and property surroundings.

Whilst travelling around the Derwent Valley a stop at Mount Field National Park is a must. The park is one of Tasmania’s oldest National Parks and a visit here isn’t complete without enjoying the short walk to Russell Falls.

On our way back to Hobart we also stopped in at Old Kempton Distillery in Kempton, located just off the Midland Highway. We started our visit with a tour of Dysart House, the distillery and bond store, finishing up with tastings of 4 Old Kempton Distillery Spirits and a delicious antipasto platter.

The Derwent Valley is home to many historic towns, great food, and surrounded by history. We really enjoyed our day travelling around and recommend spending some time in this area when in Tasmania.
