Bruny Island Safaris

Over winter our staff are out experiencing all of our wonderful Tasmanian products, and Maddy and Caitlyn were lucky enough to join the popular Bruny Island Safaris tour. This is a one day tour that departs from Hobart and gives you the chance to experience everything Bruny Island has to offer.

Our day started with the drive to Kettering where we boarded the ferry over to Bruny Island. Once on Bruny Island we enjoyed morning tea consisting of freshly shucked oysters from the popular Get Shucked Oyster Company and delicious Bruny Island Cheese on the beach at Adventure Bay. We then went looking for the albino wallaby which is unique to Bruny Island.

Our morning was completed with a drive to the Cape Bruny Lighthouse where we joined a tour to the top of the lighthouse – this was very spectacular, and is exclusive to the Bruny Island Safari company and not available on any other Bruny Island day tour.

We then had lunch at Hotel Bruny, featuring locally sourced food - the choices were endless. After lunch we enjoyed a cider tasting of local Bruny Island Ciders, followed by a stop at the Bruny Island Chocolate Company for fudge tastings. From here we headed to the famous Bruny Island Neck Lookout which offers amazing views of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel on one side, and the Tasman Sea on the other side.

To finish the day, we visited the Bruny Island Honey Farm, before boarding the ferry back over to Kettering.

It was a great day with a good mix of the fresh local produce that Tassie is famous for, spectacular scenery and a few short walks. Our tour guide for the day was a Bruny Island local who knew so much about the area and had a genuine love for the island, which made the tour have an authentically local feel. This is a great tour for anyone who loves a small family run business and finding those small hidden secrets. Thanks to Bruny Island Safaris for having us for the day!
