Scamander Sanctuary Stay

 

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, look no further than the small seaside town of Scamander located on the North East coast of Tasmania.

 

During the school holidays I took the opportunity to book 2 nights at Scamander Sanctuary, offering a range of self-contained accommodation and camping options within walking distance to the beach and the township of Scamander.

 

We arrived at the sanctuary and - with ease, during Covid - completed a self-check in to our 3 Bedroom Safari Tent. Arriving at our tent, we were surprised by its size which included a large undercover deck with BBQ, main bedroom with a four-poster bed, indoor kitchen and lounge area, a bunk area, plus a kids play area with a secret double bed on top. There is also a private bathroom in the tent with a toilet and shower.

We decided to spend our time in Scamander at the local beach, which is only a short stroll from the sanctuary, making sand castles, playing football, and walking along the beach to the local café (Swims East Coast Coffee) known to have some of the best coffee in Tasmania!

 

The 3 Bedroom Safari Tents also have their own fire pot - the perfect place to sit around and toast marshmallows at night. We had chosen to spend our time relaxing at the sanctuary; however, Scamander is the perfect base to explore the north east region including Binalong Bay and the Bay of Fires for stunning beaches and walks.

 

Alternatively, head to Pyengana Dairy Cheese Factory to sample local produce, ride the St Helens Mountain Bike Trails, or take advantage of the local fishing spots.

 

The Scamander Sanctuary also offers a range of other tent options including Family and Couples Safari Tents, Glamping Tents along with caravan and camping spots.

 

Overall, this is the perfect spot to stay during your Tasmanian holiday!
