Seahorse World

Port Arthur Historic Site

Australia’s early convict history is brought to life at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site. Only 90 minutes’ drive from Hobart it showcases Australia’s best-preserved convict settlement and is considered one of the most significant convict era sites in the world.

Port Arthur Historic Site offers so much to see and do, there are more than 30 historic buildings and ruins to explore. The combined history and scenic beauty reveled through innovative interpretation tells of the harsh stories of the penal colony. Site passes include entry for two consecutive days, and all include a guided tour and harbor cruise.

A visit to the site can be extended by visiting the recently refurbished onsite restaurant – 1830, where fresh local produce is always on the menu.
